In mid may my 48" side by side stainless refer stopped working. I was purchased in 2007. Exactly 9 years old. The authorized service company came out the next day. They told me these things are JUNK and they typically rip out the compressor, the evaporator coil, the heat exchanger and the heat loop.

Cost to me would be free parts under the 12 year sealed system parts warranty (worth about $1800) but I had to pay $1500 non-negotiable in Labor.

Sadly, Viking of course did not have ANY of the parts in their repair parts inventory anywhere in the USA - so Viking had order them from their suppliers. It took ONE MONTH to round up all the parts.

The tech came out and completely re constructed the sealed system which took all day.

It worked great - for 10 days then it stopped working.

The tech came back and said one of the parts was defective and leaking. He recharged the freon and said hopefully this will hold until the part comes in.

By evening the freon was gone.

The next day they tell me the part is not available and I have to wait an additional 4 weeks for it.

Today I called Viking and they claim they have 3 of the parts in stock.

Hopefully they will fix it and it will run for a couple of more years till I scrap it and buy a SubZero.

BTW, my 1989 Amana 25 cubic foot side by side which has been in my hot dusty garage since 2007 still works like a charm - including the ice dispenser. The only service it ever needed was a new ice maker ($40 on Amazon and 10 minutes of labor) and recently a new defrost timer ($16 on Amazon and 10 minutes of my labor). Why is it a 27 year old, $999 basic refer can work so well for so long, and a $7000 unit is such garbage!

On top of all this hassle, even when it works, the Viking refer freezes all of our produce.

NEVER EVER EVER EVEN THINK OF SPENDING YOUR MONEY ON VIKING>>> it is JUNK and the company is run by incompetents. It kind of reminds me of the clowns running Kalifornia and the Feds. They haven't a clue.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Los Angeles, California

We bought a house that had Viking appliances. Viking fir $7,000 warrants their *** equipment for only 2 YEARS.

The chip that runs the oven clock is bad and Viking wants $2,500 for the replacement part. The manual button that opens the microwave is going bad and you don't want to know what that will cost.

Both these lemons were installed 6-7 years ago when the previous owners redid the kitchen. What garbage and what s terrible company once things go wrong.

Viking sucks. Your better off buying Fridgidaire from Home Depot and putting the money in your pocket. Save yourself some frustration and stay away from Viking

Totally agree. Their products are garbage.

Their service and support will always be delinquent or declined. This is a fraudulent company.

Should not exist. Viking - you suck!

Have problems with all of my Viking appliances. Dishwasher, Wine Cooler, Range, Vent hood, Refrigerator and Microwave.

Parts are outrageously priced... a molded plastic ice bin that is poorly crafted retails for $280. The equivalent bin by whirlpool is $20. We had KitchenAid in our previous home never had one issue.

Over priced Sub par appliances. You certainly do not get what you are paying for, unless $40k for a fancy Viking emblem is what you are looking for.

I will never ever never purchase another Viking product. They are unreliable, always breaking and their service Team is even worse. Biggest ripoff ever.

After saving and saving and being so excited to finally get my Viking range, I could not be more disappointed. The parts are cheap, itโ€™s constantly broken and in need of repair and worse yet, they donโ€™t even care nor stand behind their product!

Service is awful, absolutely awful. Next range I bought was a thermador. Fantastic.

This remodel Iโ€™m going with the Wolf. Iโ€™ve done my research.
